Beginning with the 2020-21 school year, UPP’s Master’s of Science in Urban Policy and Leadership has been accredited by NASPAA, the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration, joining 300 institutional member schools at U.S. and non-U.S. universities that award degrees in public administration, public policy, public affairs, non profit and related fields.

NASPAA, whose mission is to ensure excellence in education and training for public service and to promote the ideal of public service, is the recognized global accreditor of master’s degree programs in public-service education.

Its accreditation of Hunter’s MSUPL program follows an in-depth self-study by the department, a site-visit by NASPAA representatives, and a complete review of the program’s policies, curriculum, and outcomes. The site visit included meetings and interviews with students, alumni, faculty, and administrators, after which the external visitors commented that they were especially impressed by the shared commitment to public service exhibited by all.
