I want to share with the larger community of students, alums, affiliated faculty, and friends a decision I shared with the faculty at our April meeting: I am not seeking another term as department chair when my current term expires on June 30th so that I can complete work on a book I have been writing. I appreciate the support my colleagues have entrusted in me by electing me to five consecutive three-year terms since 2008. It has been an honor serving the extraordinary students in this department. Many whom I have gotten to know are now alums steeped in productive careers dedicated to making cities better places to live for all people. Others will soon follow. I look forward to collaborating with the next department chair, my faculty colleagues, our wonderful support staff, and our students in continuing our important work together.
