Lawrence A. Herzog (Ph.D.) is Professor in the Graduate Program in City Planning, School of Public Affairs, San Diego State University, San Diego, California. He is also a consultant and writer specializing in planning and urban design in the United States, Mexico and Latin America. Herzog has written or edited 8 books on urban planning, environmental design and global/cross-border development; he has been a Fulbright Scholar (Peru), Senior Fulbright Lecturer (United Kingdom), urban/regional planning consultant to the U.S. Agency for International Development (in Peru and Bolivia), the American Institute of Architects, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Embassy to Mexico, the U.S. Consulate, Tijuana, The Woodrow Wilson International Center, the Public Policy Institute of California, and the California Department of Transportation. He is also widely published in the popular media, with over 50 essays, including the Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, New York Newsday, San Jose Mercury News, San Diego Union Tribune, and various on line publications.
